Frequent "not responding"

My Office 2007 seems to hang far more frequently than Office 2003 ever did
without any apparent reason. Is this common or do I have something in my
machine that gives Office 2007 indigestion?
 
What kind of 3rd party software do you have installed that may protect, use,
or enhance your system? (e.g. Antivirus, antispam, firewall, Acrobat
Standard/Pro, Desktop Search, .etc can all cause issues with Office and/or
the operating system itself.)
