frequency question

Hi, I have a list of 50 values, and I want excel to count and display the
number of 3's in my list, the number of 4's in my list and so on. Which
function should I use?

With the list in A1:A50,
=COUNTIF(A1:A50,3)
=COUNTIF(A1:A50,4)
etc,

FREQUENCY Function for this.

With your data range in A1:A50

Assuming numbers 1 through 5 in list of 50, key in 1,2,3,4,5 in cells B1:B5

Then select a range of 5 open contiguous cells(say C1:C5) and insert this
formula in the active cell.

=FREQUENCY(A1:A50,B1:B5) and press ctrl+shift+enter.

Adjust cells and number range in column B to suit
