And Linux is still something from the US or the western society while MOST
people don't know is they are also developing their own OSes, applications,
and standards, so image what will be like if they have come up some
competitive products.

So many would stop laughing before long....

linux wont become mainstream untill the dev's agree/work together on a
standard.
for me: gaming is a huge plus. microsoft own the gaming-OS platform.
that said, MS also own the one-click-install type procedures. i HATE
installing drivers on linux becuase 1) it's not as easy (idiot proof) as
windows, 2) usually involves recompiling the kernel, which to be fair, i
havent any knowledge and does scare me to play with anything kernel-based.

I hate that too. I only want to be an advanced user and although I highly
respect technical professional but that's not something I want to become.
So Linux has never been a consideration for me and every work environment
I've been involved in.

China already has. This was actually one reason for Microsoft's decision
for the Starter editions of Windows.
