freezing during reinstallation

Hi
I decided to reinstall my xp pro (for no real apparent reason).
now during the installation, the computer freezes when there is 32 minutes
left. i rebooted teh computer and it is just sitting at the windows xp pro
splash window with the blue dots occasionally moving along.

should i format from a boot disk and try reinstalling?

Usually installation failure with Windows operating systems indicate
hardware problems. Test your RAM, then your hard drive.
