freezeup

When I turn my commuter on it comes on to the desktop and then when I click
on start it does nothing. I can't shut it down or anything.This is very
frustating .If you turn off the power on the surge power bar and turn the
commuter back on it may or may not start up. It always goes the desktop and
I can't do anything else.
Any suggestions?

I see a lot of other posts with the same problem. It may be a new virus
causing all these freezeups.
Do you get updates from MS? I find that causes more harm than good.

This may be caused by some startup apps. Logon in safe mode with your user
and click start - run - type msconfig and press enter. In startup tab uncheck
all unneeded programs. Then try again. Also make sure you dont have any
spyware/malware.
