Freeze up during re-start

I have Windows XP SP2. When I need to re-start my computer it freezes up at
the window that says "Windows is shutting down. Then I have to hit my reset
button to re-start my PC. Is there anyone that can help me thaw out this
problem?

Shutdown problems usually mean that some program/process is refusing to
exit gracefully. Most often this is malware, but it can also be
legitimate software. The first thing to do is determine if the computer
is completely virus/malware-free:
