Freeware?

I downloaded a "freeware" game and when I wanted to install it, it say that
the game is freeware but you must install another program that will download
adds and display it on your pc. Do you think the game is still freeware or
should it be addware?

If not spyware. I would be VERY suspicious and google the name of the
ad-display program to get some idea of just what I was getting into before
going any further.

If you're going to go ahead and install it, BUT BEWARE! After doing so,
run a spyware program, such as Ad-Aware, etc. to see exactly what it
installs.

Often, this sort of "bait & switch" -- touting something as freeware,
but NOT telling you that when you install it you've another component
to add, which is explicitly ADWARE, then that's a caution right
there....I mean, the author of the "freeware" prog isn't even willing
to tell you up-front that OH, by the way -- this is adware.

And, be sure to run the spyware prog BEFORE you install your program,
just to be sure that you can tell what's been added to your system
after you install that program.

Finally, tell the author exactly what you think of this "false"
advertising, and tell him what adware etc you find after install.
