dadiOH probably puts it there.

And OE strips it on send.

Seems to be the case and I don't find any way to prevent it. Is there one?

If quotefix or fidolook can't sort it, I have no idea.

You could always use a real newsreader, of course :)

I take it you're trying for ACF's "waving a red flag" award - given
annually to the person who made the most provocative statement.

FYI - the winner is determined by the length of the thread after the post.

Hmmmm... 244 posts to go then to overtake the current leader :)

Not if all the laws of the Usenet handbook are obeyed. I've accelerated us
straight to the Godwin endgame.

Btw, Jo did a very feeble job of it. To do something like this right, it
is best to cross-post into conflicting newsgroups. Definitely bring in
the arrogant MVPs from the microsoft.* hierarchy. Then add in chaos from
random alt.* windows groups. Finally, why not bring in one of the linux.*
groups, too? Then we can be guaranteed a 4,000 post min on the thread...

Now I'm regretting my action of having done the nazi invoke that killed
this off too early. :( Because maybe there are medals for the winner of
this competition. Google groups hall of fame? To have rights to say, "Look
at that avalanche, there! I was its great creator!"

IIRC rule 10, subparagraph c. has a penalty clause for importing outside
talent - two posts are deducted for every cross-post in the thread.

There's always tomorrow. :)

We both know that Agent is forgiving in this respect.

I didn't know that. Now, I finally understand why so much has been
said about something that seems so trivial. Agent was removing what
others had to clip manually from sigs that are not up to snuff.

OK. As I understand it...

The stripping thing looks for -- + space + hard return and removes what follows. Theoretically.

Now, "return" is the Enter key, hex OD. All it really should do is return the cursor to the start of the current line. However, in Windows, it adds a linefeed (hex OA) too so that the curser goes to the start of the next line. They call that a hard return.

There is (in Windows) also a "soft return", hex OB. That's a "VT", don't recall what it does. It is entered by Shift + Enter.

I format my sig into lines for logic and readability. I had hoped I could replace all the hard returns (except the final) with soft returns so that it would autonatically be stripped in its entirety. However, all that happens is that my name and the underscore line following are stripped. The rest is left, I have no idea why. Anyone?

The ISO-8859-15 encoding patch by Denis Liégeois must be installed for
the ISO-8859-x signature fix.
(Check the downloads section of the OE-QuoteFix homepage.)

Someone here in acf once could only get it to work by IIRC:
+ Uninstall OE-QuoteFix and reboot.
+ (Re?)-install the ISO-8859-15 encoding patch
+ Reinstall OE-QuoteFix
+ Check the settings
