freeware to convert .mov files to .avi or mpeg?

Does anyone know of a free program to convert .mov files to .avi or mpeg
files? Either a stand-alone app or plug-in for Virtual Dub is fine.

Take a look at "GermaniX Encoder" ("bPlayer2"). It can do "your
work" and some other converts too. It´s a freeware.

I don´t know the URL know, but with www.google.com you´ll find
it soon.

Take a look at "GermaniX Encoder" ("bPlayer2"). It can do "your
work" and some other converts too. It´s a freeware.
I don´t know the URL know, but with www.google.com you´ll find
it soon.

but unless I'm missing something, it looks like it's only an audio
format converter. Maybe it subtracts audio tracks from .mov files and
then converts that?

TMPGenc with the Quicktime plugin

I just asked this very question last week, and both Jo and Susan have
the tools I used.. I transformed the mov to avi, then the avi to mpeg. I
couldn't find a tool that did it just all the way across.

There is a Quicktime reader plug-in for TMPGEnc which lets you convert
..mov directly to .mpg. I got it from
