HI... Hopefully this is the appropriate place for this message..

I'm not necessarily looking for a FREEWARE program. Instead, I'm looking
for a FREEWARE website that will enable me to listen to the radio over the
Internet (preferably with no commercials).

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Doesn't look free to me.

Shoutcast is a classic. Icecast.org, too?

My bad (they had a "free" one last time I used it (well over a year ago now
though)).

Install Winamp. In the media library there are Internet Radio and
Internet TV station listings.

In case you want to take a look at a software program check out Silent Night
MP3-CD Player. One of its features is an internet radio. It has
preprogrammed channels that are commercial free. www.silentnight2004.com

I use xmplay and it can stream from shoutcast and icecast, among
others. I simply save the stations I want as *.pls or *.m3u files and
tune in at my leisure.

Mike, I use xmplayer, also, and really love it. Maybe you can help
with this type of stream.
I can't get it to stream files ending in "ASX". It will stream in
windows media player, but when I put the URL into the xmplayer, nothing
happens. I scrounged around in my temp folder and found the ASX file.
I opened it up, and here is what was in the file (using notepad):

<asx version = "3.0">
<entry>
<ref href = "mms://flare.creighton.edu/Valley"/>
<Title>National Weather Service Radio Broadcast</Title>
<Author>NWS Valley, NE</Author>
<Copyright>National Weather Service</Copyright>
<Banner></Banner>
</entry>
<Title>National Weather Service Radio Broadcast</Title>
<Author>NWS Valley, NE</Author>
<Copyright>National Weather Service</Copyright>
<Banner></Banner>
<LogURL href = ""/>
</asx>

Here is the actual link from the web site:

http://flare.creighton.edu/Valley.asx

Any suggestions??????

I think I spoke too soon. Just saw a post that XMplay has come out
with version 3.2 ( I had 3.1). Am going to download it and see if it
will play the ASX stream.

I edited your url and went to http://flare.creighton.edu and scrolled
to the bottom where your actual link is. I then right-clicked on the
link and chose "save as" and saved it as "Valley.asx." I then opened
xmplay and loaded Valley.asx and it played with no problem.

Do you mean commercial radio stations? Here is a site that gives a
direct link to the stream. You might be lucky as stations sometimes
remove their own commercials.
