Change Start button in XP?

Is there a super simple FREEWARE program that will enable me to change the
start button (text AND logo) in windows xp very easily - and hopefully
without me having to edit the registry or anything??

I had used hook99 for 98se but it doesn't work in xp.

I'm not sure how to do it without having to actually edit any thing . . .
but ElderGeek has some good info on tweaking such things. This one
outlines how to edit the text (and points you to a freeware app to use for
doing so)

Under DisappearedWare, this program is gone, but using the Internet
archive machine you can get it..

There are some reports that when you reboot you may lose your rename. I
can't test it because I don't have XP.

TClock Light will let you do this amongst other things.

There are some reports that when you reboot you may lose your rename. I
can't test it because I don't have XP.

This doesn't work particularly well here on XP Pro. The start button
gets bigger and uglier, the app needs to be re run on each boot and
the text manually entered, and it randomly messes with the sys tray
icons.
I tried it just now to test it and will not use it again.

Maybe that's why it disappeared. Generally Lockergnome recomends good
stuff.
