Freeware Desktop control to manage view open windows tiled vertically or horizontally?

Anna

hi all,

I am using win98. And i am working with DOS windows most of time at my work
.... What a horrible word. I need to keep open at least 5-6 dos windows and
sometimes i need to move a specific window Alt-Tab doesn't work. because it
shows all the windows as 'DOS' , so i have to click many times to go and
find the specific window.

What i am looking for is a freeware to enable me manage all the open windows
arranged horizontally or vertially so when I click on the freeware icon i
see all the open windows in smaller size and if i click on any i get the
bigger version. Or something equivalent ...

Anything available at all?

Hi!

You can change the title of the dos windows with te "title" command, with
this, you can identify easily each window :)

I don't know what he means, either.
(Maybe he refers to the start command in Win XP/2000.)

But can you not change the titles of the windows, by modifying the
shortcuts to the batch files?

Use ANSI.sys make each window a different color. Download "TheDraw"
http://www.delmar.edu/Courses/CIS415L/ANSIsys.htm

....and read the page.

Anna ....

You might try a Right-Click just to the right
of the Start button ....

Then select either ....

Tile Windows Horizontally
Tile Windows Vertically

When finished, do the same and select ....

Undo Tile

I also work in MS-DOS a great deal
and sometimes find that tiling the windows
helps to manage myself ...

Have you tried tiling or cascading? Go to toolbar, right click,
choose an option?

Others may have software solutions but I suspect you will do better in
a basic help forum. If simply renaming the DOS windows or tiling
meets your needs, you may benefit greatly (be much less frustrated /
be more productive) from spending a few hours with an intro to Win98.

I don't envy you having to spend lots of time in multiple DOS windows.

Good luck,

In a DOS prompt, type:
title titleforwindow
it changes the title of the DOS window. I use it all the time when I
have 3 or 4 DOS windows open. You can also use the color command to
change the colors of the text and background - that helps too. For
example, type this to get green text on black:
color 0a

Use both color and title to keep track of them

It was a dark and stormy night when Brian Pipa <see-my-
In a DOS prompt, type:
title titleforwindow
it changes the title of the DOS window.

Problem is, the OP (Anna) is using Windows 98 and for that OS those
commands are not available.
