Freeing space on hard drive

Hi!

I have deleted files not needed and the recycle bin and
am still getting a message that I have less than 15% of
free space. I can't defragment or backup. I rebooted
after deleting files but nothing worked.

Message keeps coming up that I should delete files. The
ones that are left are important.Do I have to transfer
these to a disc? I've never done that and would like to
avoid it if possible. I'm new at all of this so
instructions have to be pretty simple, sorry!!

I have less than 5% of free space left. Thanks for any
help I can get...the support help just tells you to
defragment. Message says I have some 10,000 fragments.
how'd that happen???? Again thanks!!!

Do a disk cleanup and on the "more options" tab, click the system restore
button. Caution!! That will remove all restore points except the current
one. By default, system restore is allowed 12% of your drive space, 500 mb's
is sufficient. That is adjusted by going to SR and on the left side of the
screen, choosing "system restore settings", slide the bar to suit. You might
also want to remove any programs that you don't use, that would free some
space.
