Three weeks a go we had an exchange about free word to pdf conversion.
Now I need the resulys as I have to create a pdf file from a word
document but can't read the old emails - they are already by and gone.
Can anyone please tell me which was the pdf converter that left as
champion ?

I have PaperlessPrinter and Universal Document Converter installed but
they dont outout a pdf format.

I need a "professional" result, no ads on the pages, for a file of 200
pages!

PrimoPDF is supposed to be the simplest and most feature rich freeware
contender. I tried it recently. It was easy to install, all right. Too
bad it simply didn't work. When I tried printing to it the process just
hung up totally, eating a bunch of CPU doing nothing.

Uninstalled and tried CutePDF instead. Two installs instead of one, but
it works. Easy as pie.

Finally, there is the option of using OpenOffice. It supports Microsoft
Office formats, and it can output to PDF.

Yeah, I should have mentioned that I work with OOo BUT if you want
exactly the same layout the conversion from the word to OOo does not
really produce an identical result (dont speak of the numbering of
chapters!). So, producing a pdf based on a text written with OOo, with
all the whistels and bells - excellent. Use for a text with a basic
layoout written in word and imported in OOo - works great. Import 200
pages, 70 tables, 40 pictures, EndNote bibliography from word and
produce an identical lay out in OOo - no.

CutePDF really did the job but need java. As I use Ooo, Java has already
been installed. However, I did not find that CutePDF translates the
hyperlinks.

PSEDITOR 1.14 - 43.19 KB

Create from every application a PS file and convert with this program
in a high quality PDF file. Change the Info and the Author in the PDF
file. Freeware

http://www.paehl.de/english.php

But i didn't try it. On the same page there is another PDF conversion
utility,

TXT2PDF

This program is a easy pdf creator from textfiles (commandline
version). You can insert the author and the producer. Regard this as an
easy program to create pdf-files. With English and German manual.
FREEWARE.

As i said, not tried here because i discover them to late, and after
some deceptions with other programs, i bought a PDF studio express.
