Free Virtual Memory - Problem

Guest

Hi,

I have a dual boot configuration, W2K and WXP, my RAM is 1GB.
I use W2K for educative games for my children, generally I do not have any
issue but today I tried one from Disney and gave me the following message.

"This program requires at least 3MB of free virtual memory to run"

I looked at the settings of the Initial Size and Max Size and those are the
typical managed by the system.

I'd like to know what customized values should I set in order to let the
program work.
Also, what are the possible consequences on the system by changing the
default values?

Thanks for your help

Alex,

The Microsoft recommended minimum Virtual Memory size is equivalent to 1.5
times the RAM on your computer, and 3 times that figure for the maximum
size. For example, if you have 256 MB of RAM, the minimum VM size is 384 MB,
and the maximum VM size is 1152 MB.

The only consequence you might encounter is a sluggishness on
memory-intensive programs (playing 3D-graphic-intensive games, watching DVD
movies, etc).

Hope this helps.
