It has to exist but is there a free stopwatch one can download and use in
XP? Just something to time presentations and lectures.

Have you tried your favorite search engine?

My favourite search engine is Google but AFAIK it doesn't have stopwatch
functionality.

Unfortunately I can't say I told you so as I didn't provide the link to the
Google stopwatch :)

Thank you all. I did find one I that suits me.

Actually I avoid using Google and use instead Ixquick which does not
maintain permanent records of all your searches, but this time Google was
better.

Timing. http://www.analysis-knowledge.com/

"Keeps track of your time and charges working on various
activities. Very easy to enter data - just select a project,
and press the green button to start, and the red button to
stop the timer! You can run queries over the time. Schedule
reminders. The program can remain open all the time without
interfering with anything else, as all tables are closed.
Easily query for the time and charges for each day, each
month, or whatever Search the notes fields of the various
tables for any words. Elapsed time in minutes is shown in
the taskbar as the program title when the program is
minimized."
