free Microsoft synchronizing software

If it's any consolation I removed the program from my computer. It's
not very user friendly and I couldn't even look to see what changes it
wanted to make before it was going to. There are better FileSync
programs out there.

Freeware? Would you suggest one? I used AllSych but it limits the folders.

Several of the dual pane file managers have that tool. Karen's
Replicator will make it so you don't even have to bother synching
folders.

Thanks, not trying to create an argument but backing up isn't two way
synching, imo.

Allsybch which I dropped, and SychTool from MS, allow you to make decisions
about which files is older, newer, to be replaced, etc. Both directions.

Am I missing something? I got a USB drive that I use for pulling new data
to the old data (on the USB) and backing that newest data up on the drive.

That's precisely why I didn't like the MS utility. I didn't see any
way where you could decide which files from the target folder would be
replaced. Did you try a dual pane manager sush as freeCommander?

Yeah I see what you mean. It's all or none.

It's very easy to do that with the MS utility. You have to use the "echo"
setting for the pair of folders and whatever changes you make to the source
folder will be "echoed" in the target folder, including deleted files.

I did use the echo option but I wanted to see the changes it was going
to make. I never was able to see it and I just didn't trust it enough
to let it do the job.
