I have had a few of these deals off of o2, and they are legit.

The last bunch of 6 i put on ebay and sold the full set of 6 (consecutive numbers) for about £45 +P&P.

The intention of ordering them though is to give to friends and family though so you can all share the same network, and hance get cheaper calls. The 300 free texts/month are actually really good value for a pay and go tarriff. So, why not give them a try.
