I am unable to upload a file with the name ".htaccess " (with out
quotations) to geocities web hosting. I can use ftp and file manger.

1. What happens when you try?
2. How are you doing the upload? What program are you using?
3. If you are doing this from IE (which version?) or from Windows
Explorer, consider trying a third-party FTP client such as Filezilla (free).
