frames Q for Thomas (or anyone)

more information leads to more questions...he he

assuming INDEX concists of a side frame (always to be seen) and a main frame
that holds the ever changing content form page top page. and assuming that
INDEX is what is seen as the initial page when the website loads.

I revised the main frame and then saved it as bio (representing the bio
page), then again with news (representing the news page)...no major changes,
just testing the file locations and making enough changes to notice which
page is where.

When you look in the "hyperlinks" section on the left side of the screen
when on the index file, the schematic shows index and points to both side
and main frame (and all links within). My question is how do I get each page
from here...bio, news, gallery, etc....to open with both side frame and the
revised frame for each page.

when I revise the main frame, there is no way I can see it as a full page
consisting of both that frame and the side frame. (the side frame I'd liketo
appear at all times)

I tried to save the main frame and then return to the index page where the
changes were still temporarily noticable and then save the entire area as a
page, but then when I went back to open this page, it reads it still as
INDEX which is to open with the original 2 frames and my changes were
limited to only the frame itself that I changed.

my apologies for the constant stream of questions....

ok, i think i have it but let me know if anyone thinks I'm wayyy off track.

I basically saved another index page (with a new title of news) then I went
in and looked in the frame properties of the main frame and browsed to look
for the revised fram I saved as news_frame. I set the new frame as the
initial one for that "news" page and then re-saved the entire page. now the
news page has the revised "news" frame within.

sound about right?
sorry to put my brainstorming down here possibly wasting people's time
....just trying to learn as I go, hope ya'll understand.

That is doing extra work, as you are create a frameset for each page and
will end up with a frameset at some point loading within a frameset.

The frameset only needs to be created once, then you just create the
individual pages that you want to load within the right frame (main) when
you click on the links in the left frame.
