I'm typing an equation, and I DON'T want simple fractions, like 3/5,
converted to a small font size. How do I keep Word 2007 from doing this, or
how do I convert back to the regular font size?

In the Equation Tools > Fraction gallery, there are separate selections for
"stacked fraction" (the larger kind) and "small fraction".

However, when I just type a linear equation like 3/5 x + 4/7 y, I do get
stacked fractions when I press the spacebar after each fraction. If you're
getting the small fraction instead, try either using the gallery, or
right-clicking and choosing first "Linear" and then "Professional".

Hi Karen,

I think that what you want to do is to turn off autocorrect for fractions.
To do this, click the Office Button, click Word Options, click Proofreading,
and click the Autocorrect Options button. In the dialog box that opens, on
the Math AutoCorrect tab, clear the checkbox for converting fractions (1/2).

Hi Karen,

Oops! I gave you the wrong tab. The correct instructions are as follows.
Click the Office Button, click Word Options, click Proofreading, and click
the Autocorrect Options button. In the dialog box that opens, on the
AutoFormat As You Type tab, clear the Fractions (1/2) with fraction character
(½) checkbox.
