FP2003 - Layout Tables - Inserting Pictures

G

Guest

Am new to FP and trying to following Microsoft training. Training instructs
inserting a "tracer pictures", then drawing the table and cells around the
picture. I created a home page picture in graphics file, saved it as a jpg,
then inserted into the table (so far without cells). Picture is huge beyound
words. I had saved it as approx 6" by 8". Made picture much smaller,
reinserted but now cannot draw the cells around the buttons in the picture.
Is there any method of zooming the page so that the area I'm working on is
visible and can be drawn on? (As there is in other programs where the view
can be increased - such as Word or Adobe Photoshop where you can zoom in.

An aside question is, must every picture that I want to insert be made
incredibly small?

Thanks to anyone who can help. (I'm about to give up on Front Page)

You need to edit your images in an image editor outside of FrontPage, to the
size you want.

Then, you need to File | Import the image into a folder in your open
FrontPage web.

Do your tables, first. Don't draw them. Set the cell properties to
accomodate the picture.

Then, insert your picture into the table/cell and save.

.. . . . . I did that. Image is approx 6 x 8 inches.

. . . .. .I am using layout tables. I thought I had set the cell
properties to approx the same size as the image --- but it coming out
tremendous. Why?
Then, insert your picture into the table/cell and save.

. . . . . I did that. Can't seem to get it. (In Word, in Tables, you can
set the table wound it does not expand to fit whatever you drop into -
causing that things to "shrink" to fit the table size. Can't you do that
with FP?

You need to size your images in pixels, not inches. HTML tables will always expand to fix the
content that is inserted into them unless the content can wrap to another line, which images can
not.

Inches are meaningless in a web page. How big is an image 6 inches wide
on a 15inch monitor at 1024x768 resolution? How big is the same image
on a 22inch monitor with the same resolution?

Size the image in pixels - to display in a browser opened to 800x600 use
an image 760px wide, and set the dpi in the graphics program when saving
to 96.

My appreciation to you again. I realize I have too much 'Word' stuff in my
brain and need to rethink (and re-read a couple of times) about web page
sizes, etc.
