FP won't open 2nd page

I just installed FP2002 on my brand new computer (Windows
xp). I published my web from my old computer (also xp and
FP2003) to the new one. FP2002 on the new computer,
opened my index page, but when I tried to go to another
page, it gave an error message that "FP has encountered a
problem and will shut down". At first I thought it was a
link problem, but then I found that I couldn't even open
another page by double clicking in the Folders view. Then
I closed my web, and opened one of the web Templates
which has multiple pages, and found the same problem,
that the first page would open, but trying to open a
second page caused the shut down. Can't find anything on
Microsoft Knowledge Base.
I removed and reinstalled FP2002. No help.
I removed FP2002, installed FP2000 (that works ok, but
the features are crummy).
I then installed FP2002 over FP2000. No help.
Does anyone have any idea what to do next?
Thanks,
Dave

How did you "publish" from one PC to another
- Best done from the online hosted FP SE server to the PC
(or see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=264777)

Always open your FP web (File open web) not your pages

You didn't indicate which Win XP you have, but Win XP Home only supports Disc based webs (not server based webs (IIS or PWS not
supported on Win XP Home)

Hi Stefan,
The problem description is simpler than I described
before. When I open FP, go to New Web, select Customer
Support Web: The customer support web opens. In Folders
View I click on index.htm, and the home page opens. THEN:
If I do a Control Click on any other page I get an error
message:
"Microsoft FrontPage has encountered a problem
and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience."
The same thing happens if I try to open a second page by
double clicking a file in the folders view.
Any ideas? I'd appreciate a reply even if you can't think
of anything.
Dave

Hi Stefan,
Halleluyah!
I found the answer:
DO NOT install KB 810217 if you don't have server
extensions on your machine.!!!
When I installed FP on my new machine, I of course
installed all the "critical updates" including KB 810217.
Finally I went to Control Panel and removed that update,
and voila!, FP is working.
Thanks very much for your response.
Dave
