FP user afraid to take the leap to Expressions

Hi,

I own and manage a relatively large (60-page), image-heavy website,
www.heartofstonestudio.com and love FP with its intuitiveness and ease of
use, especially with photos. I WILL have to convert to Expressions soon,
right? I haven't tried Expressions yet, but I'm ordering the trial offer. Can
you either summarize or tell me where to find info on how I would do the
conversion from FP to Expressions without loss/damage to my website? Also,
can you direct me to a place where I can learn what Major Adjustments will I
have to make? Thanks!

David, I have the same concern for different reasons. I would like to
upgrade to be able to offer those I design for more options etc however I
have been having so much success with the various versions of FP I fear
Expressions is going to be so Dreamweaver like that I won't enjoy using it.

But the reality is a lot of the template designers I use are on the
Expression bandwagon so it looks inevitable that I will have to get on board.

I like the visual simplicity of FP and no matter how I try I can't visualize
CSS and get that to make sense. Honestly that is why I never purchased
Dreamweaver in the first place. I am sure you've encountered people who make
a fairly simple subject very difficult to stroke their own ego, that is what
I feel about Dreamweaver-- nothing has to be that confusing.

For me FP was great for everyone. Sure I had a learning curve but with FP
it was quite easy to get over.

Most of my people want a nice web presence and I could provide that quickly
and nicely with FP. I am afraid that Expression is for those who are well,
well above my level of expertise and that I will be one of the most
frustrated.

Lastly, I design websites for fun, not to generate my mortgage payment.
Expression may have taken that fun away from me.

Please share your comments and thoughts.

Hi,

I've read this thread with interest as I'm in a very similar position to the
originator. My hosting company has just e mailed us to say that they will
shortly be removing FrontPage extensions from their servers due to 'lack of
support and security patch updates'.

I'd prefer to stay with FP for now and would also prefer to stay with this
host, but what effect will removal of the FPE have?

Will the theme we use from FP cease to work? - i.e. will button styles and
wallpaper images stop working. We have hit counters that will almost
certainly stop working but this isn't a worry.

Any advice is very welcome.

Thanks

Ian

Thomas,

I need your insight. I don't understand what the link below has to do with
moving from FP2003 to Experssions Web.
Thank you.

The link shows you what features the FPSE to function, as well as being able to edit the site on the
live/remote server.
