FP and lost page background!!???

I have a recurring problem of losing the background picture when uploading
from FP. I can't see the problem in FP itself, and not even in MS IE 6 when
looking at the web page on the server.

It was actually a friend of mine who asked if I had intended the white
background on all pages. I hadn't, so I took a look and couldn't see what he
meant. I even deleted old temporary internet files and hit F5 for refresh,
but I still could not see any problem. Then another friend in England asked
me the same thing, so I logged into a second computer, and there it was
visible.

It was close to impossible to get rid of the problem. What worked (but not
every time) was to set another background, upload, put back the old
background and upload again.

It seemes to me to only happen with gif images and not jpg ones, but I am
not sure in my analyses, it just seemes so right now.

This must surely be a bug, or could it be that I am doing something wrong?

Best,

Tomas

To restate what it is I think you are observing:

You DO NOT see the problem when you test it from within
Front page or on the host IF you view it from your PC.

You DO see the problem when viewed from another computer
on the host.

If my statements above are correct then I would propose
that the references to the actual background images point
to your C: drive and not to your Front Page disk-based
Web (ie, the web you open when you work on it in Front
Page). The image may physically reside there but the HTML
code (see HTML tab) "thinks" it is on your C: drive. If
so, this would indicated that you did not import the
background image file into your Front Page disk based web
prior to applying it.

On the nail!!

I even wondered why the reference to some images was c:/// and so on. Now I
know!

Thank you Rick.

Best,

Tomas
