FP 2003 web components

I noticed a post referring to websunlimited.com This looks pretty cool. Is
this site very popular with FP03 users?

Regarding all their web components, and FP03 components, are there any
problems with using FTP instead of using frontpage publishing to move files
to server? I use FTP that's why I'm asking.

Thanks.

As long as the components are designed to be used with FP2003 and they are design-time, you should
not have any problems using them or any other components.

What do you mean by "design-time"?

My hosting server has FP extenstions and I was reading one of the posts
explaining fp publishing and ftp and they were saying you need to use fp
publishing if you use fp components and possibly from components
websunlimited?

Do you know if this Is true?

Design-Time: means the features that you use when designing the site in FP, Navigation, Themes,
Shared Borders, FP Include Page, etc.

Run-Time: means forms, guest book, discussion web and few features of the FP navigation components.

As far as I recall, J-Bots are all design-time components. However to be sure, you need to contact
Webs Unlimited.

If the live/remote server has the FP extensions, then none of the FP run-time component will work,
if published via FTP and you run the real risk of corrupting the FP extensions by using FTP.

When you use any other method of uploading or maintaining files in a FP enabled server, the
extensions on the server are not aware that any changes in the site content has occurred.

If you use FP components that require the server extensions, then yes FTP is
a problem - you need to publish through Frontpage with the http mode.

Otherwise, no, there's no problem using FTP - I use it myself on my own site
hosted on Linux (no frontpage support). I also publish via Frontpage using
its FTP mode.

Andrew -
Do you know of a list somewhere of the exploding components? I've never learned
what the FTP/FP problem is exactly.
