FP 2002 Won't Work Post-Beta

P

Peter

Several months back I installed the FP Beta. When I did
this, I opted to leave FP 2002 in place, which it did.

Since then, I have not been able to view file directories
using 2002. All I see in the content area for folder view
are the folder and file icons, with no file info. I can
click one of these and move to a directory or pull up a
file, but I can't see what file it is that I'm pulling up.

So, my Beta period expired, I uninstalled the Beta, as I'm
just as happy to use FP2002, but I still can't see the
file information in folder view. I reinstalled FP2002, and
then ran detect and repair, but this made no change.

So, what can I do to fix this? I checked the Knowledge
area, and there doesn't seem to be any information on this
problem.

The problem is seemingly solved. Just needed a life-
threatening registry edit to clear out some junk left by
the Beta version. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Can you email me offline and tell me what those registry entries were?

Several users have reported this problem
(seems the uninstall does not clean out some registry entries)

Use the below registry edits before a repair/reinstall of MSO XP/ FP 2002

Find the key
hkcu/software/microsoft/frontpage/explorer/fp explorer/settings

Any of the values listed in here that start with the number 5 should be
deleted. This will reset all of the column widths, etc, but it will get the
filenames and any other problems resolved.
There should only be one or two for folder view, but any view that was
used/modified with a beta version of FP2003 could be affected.

PS
Also delete all FP Temp and *.web files before opening FP2002, then run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks
