Foxpro CDX

I would like to transfer the data from an old foxpro program to Access XP
however I get errors when I try to import the data, also I when I use the
drop down it does not list the CDX as an option to import from. If I select
the files with the DBF at the end it get no index found or not in the proper
format.

Hi Michelle,

FoxPro files come in three parts. The DBF is the table itself, the CDX
(optional) is the index file, and the FRT (optional) is the contents of any
Memo fields that are present. When working with Fox tables via Access you
should only see and access the DBF file; Fox and Access will take care of
the memo data in the FRT file. When importing you would not import the
indexes at all, although the indexes would come into play if you were
linking to rather than importing the tables.

You haven't said how you are "transferring" the data or what version of
FoxPro the tables were created with. Over time new features have been added
to Fox tables. The older FoxPro 2.x tables are directly accessible by the
Jet data engine. DBFs with Visual FoxPro features added can only be accessed
via ODBC, and DBFs with features added in VFP7 and above are only accessible
via OLE DB. However, files created with newer Fox versions can be accessed
in the older ways if the newer features are not used.

The VFP ODBC drivers and OLE DB data provider are downloadable from
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vfoxpro/downloads/updates .

Try using ODBC and post back if you still have problems.
