Foxmail 5 beta 1

R

Riggs

Anyone else using this program? I've been running it for about a week and
have found it to be fast and stable. The addition of
bayes/whitelist/blacklist/rules based spam filtering ablility is an
excellent set of anti-spam tools. I always like Foxmail for it speed and
relatively small size, this latest upgrade is a welcome addition.

And as I'm posting this I realize I don't have the link handy...

Oh well...

Why don't get it from Foxmails homepage
http://fox.foxmail.com.cn/download/fm50chb1.exe

I've been using Foxmail for years, and I agree with you.

Does anybody know if an english version is available?

Install the Chinese version and delete the chinese.lg language file from
the Foxmail program folder.

Yes, absolutely. When you run the exe, the program creates the folders it
needs.
Bye, Fede.

I downloaded the new beta about a week ago, and still can't figure out how
to use the Bayes spam filter. FoxMail says it needs to learn more messages,
so I have been marking my spam as "Spam" and sending it to the trash, as
well as blacklisting the sender, but I still cannot enable the Use Bayes
Spam Filter..

Any pointers?

Under the Tools tab go to the anti-spam options. You can setup all your
filters from there.

I think you must - *before* - let Foxmail learn enough messages
(more than 1000 for both spam and not spam).

Tools - Anti Spam Options...

Bayes Filter

button -> Learn...

Bye.

The exe only package is for installing 5 beta 1 over an existing 4, 4.1, or
4.2. Not for initial installations.

Foxmail 5 is a great email client, but I have one problem with it. When I
reply to an email that doesn't have hard returns in it to terminate the
lines, the quote in the reply is borked. It only has one > at the start
of each paragraph, instead of a > for every line. Anyone knows a solution
for this (apart from using HTML email)?

no, foxmail *never need* to be installed...
the standalone foxmail.exe file is fully functionnal to have a
complete pop/smtp mail client (true for all fox version)
all the added files come for new feature (foxhot.exe for hotmail
support, new dll files for crypto features, some antispam related
files)
try launching foxmail.exe as a lone file in a folder... ;-)

the chinese installer include also english dictionnary, and chinese
templates, faces, help and readme text...

the zip i provide can of course upgrade an existing foxmail install
(replace all existing files)

don't USE html, but just swap to html mode and quickly come back to
text mode ;-)

Thanks Ramon. Tried it and this method does put hard returns at the end
of each line, but it doesn't put a > in front of each line of quoted
text.

Then use ;

http://www.dsoft.com.tr/stripmail/

to ;

(A) Remove all ">".

(B) Indent each line with ">".

Regards, John.

I changed back to Foxmail after putting up with Pegasus for a year.
But. Does anyone know how to include the orignal body of the mail in the
reply? I tried HTML. Don't want to use that and it wants to use Chinese
characters instead. I have already deleted the Chinese dictionary.
