found.000

William

Running XP Home.

I have the following two folders under c:

Found.000
Found.001

They contain other folders and files. I can not delete
them. I know that they were created through scan disk but
now what am I supposed to do with them.
If I try to change the attribs from read only, it is
simply ignored.

Message:
Cannot delete file00xx: Access denied.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and
that the file is not currently in use.

I have admin rights. As far as I can tell the file is not
in use. There is loads of space. Although the PC won't
let me change the attribs from read only.

I have turned off pagefile, no use.
HELP!

Hi,

Take ownership, then delete them. They are, as you suspect, remnants from
running the disk checker. Right-click the folder, select properties. Go to
the security tab and click advanced. You can take control of the folders on
the owner tab. For the security tab to appear in a WinXP Pro system, you
must disable simple file sharing in the control panel/folder options/view
tab. For a WinXP Home system, you must restart in safe mode and logon as
administrator. More details here:
