Tools->Rules and Alerts->New Rule->After sending... The rest should be a
piece of cake.

I'm sorry, but the next steps are not completely obvious to me. How do I
select only messages that are appointments for forwarding?

Cheers,
Tim

Do you not see the option for "uses the form name" in the next window
immediately after "check message after sending?"

Thanks. So I did see "uses the form name form", but I would never have
guessed that that was the right place to select an appointment.

So here's what I did to accomplish what I (and the original poster) was
trying to accomplish...

Choose "Rules and Alerts..." from the Tools menu
Choose "New Rules" from the "E-mail Rules" tab.
Choose "Check messages when they arrive" under the "Start from a blank rule"
heading and click "Next >"
Select checkbox "uses the form name form", click "form name" link in Step 2
box
In the Choose Forms dialog, select "Application Forms" in the pulldown,
highlight "Appointment", move it to the "Selected Forms" column click the
"Add ->" button, then click the "Close" button at the bottom of the window.
Click the "Next >" button at the bottom of the "Rules Wizard" window.

Now you can do a variety of things with the message, depending on your need.
The terminology here is a lot more obvious than that used for selecting an
appointment in the previous step, at least to anyone who is familiar with
email user agents.

In my case, I forwarded it to a Gmail account by choosing "forward it to
people or a distribution list" and then changing "people or distribution
list" to my Gmail address.

So the final rule looked like this...

Apply this rule after the message arrives
uses the Appointment form
forward it to <someone>@gmail.com

If you wanted to to copy the message onto another local calendar, you could
do so by creating a rule like this...

Apply this rule after the message arrives
uses the Appointment form
move a copy to the Home Calendar folder

where "Home Calendar" is a previously created calendar folder. This copies
the appointment to the Home Calendar folder, leaving the original.

It looks like you can also move the appointment without leaving a copy in
the inbox.
