I have a file exported to Excel format however the formulas don't work on the
same and =2+2 is not working being displayed as if ' had been inserted,
whereas there hasn't been. However the same formula works if a new column is
inserted.

Any clarification!

Hi
May be check cell format and change to number.

Thanx but no Pascal! I think had it been a problem of cell formatting an
error would have been shown as #value! rather than the formula itself being
displayed as =2+2.

Not necessarily since if your cells had been formated as text it would not
show any error, but anyway try:
Tools, Options, View tab and untick "Formulas"

What I think Pascal means is that (almost certainly) the cell in which your
formula is sitting has been formatted as text.
Change it to anything other than text (usually General is a good bet). Then
re-enter the formula, either by retyping it, or by clicking in the formula
bar to enter edit mode and then accepting the formula, or by going to edit
mode by hitting F2 and again accept the formula.
