Re. Power Point 2007. Is there a way of defining variable fields in Power
Point without using Excel. For example, suppose a recipe is for 6 people and
all ingredients are measured for six people. Is there a way of defining
people and quantities as variables so that if the number of people changes
(the number is an input variable in Power Point) then all the ingredients
change automatically. This is trivial in Excel. What I want to know is
whether Power Point can do it without also attaching an associated Excel
spread sheet. Thanks.

You could insert an excel object into the Ppt file?

Power point 2007 included in Office & home/studen 2007 is totally useless and
doesn't work. I had a new HP laptop with the trial version. Created a PP
presentation, when I bought the software, the PP 2007 only allows Viewing.
What is with this? the box and all your advetising said PP 2007 is
included, why can't I creat pp presentations? That is why I bought the
software. Do I return it?
Are you just False advertisers? What is the deal hear? I am spending my
life savings and failing. My job is discontiued, I have no future or income.
Will someone give me a break????? Please??? I'm loosing my home and
running out of food including my dogs and cats. HELP!!!!

I'm sorry to hear about your losses. Unfortunately, your complaints are in
the wrong place. Microsoft employees do not read these messages. Everyone
here is a volunteer trying to help other users as best as we can. If you
have a complaint for Microsoft, you'll have to contact them directly.

If you have a question for the volunteers here, you might want to start a
new thread instead of replying to someone else's thread. Your more likely to
get a response with a fresh thread and a fresh and informative subject.

It looks like the FAQ entry is not updated for Office 2007, but the
information at the beginning of this might be useful for you:

http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00280.htm

I am fairly certain that the Home and Student Edition of 2007 includes
PowerPoint. It is possible that when you double click on a file, it is
opening it in the Viewer rather than the full version of PowerPoint - even
if you have the full version on your system. Use the information at the FAQ
to determine if you actually have the full version. If you have the full
version, but your files open in the Viewer, you might check out this FAQ
entry for tips on fixing that:
