Formulas cut and paste but do not compute

When I cut and past even the easiest formula (=A1+B1) The formula pastes
correctly, but the result of the formula in the new cell is the same as the
previous formula in the original cell. Ideas?
 
Enusre that calc mode is set to automatic
Click Tools > Options > Calculation tab (Options are there)
 
I knew it was a setting somewhere. I just couldn't find it. THanks, Max.
