Formula: =PROPER(text), won't display result.

I'm entering the formula in cell D2, referencing text in cell C2 to convert
it to the proper case. Not only will the result not display in cell D2, but
I'm not able to fill the formula down the column and reference the other
cells in column C. When I try to drag and drop, it is only copying the
formula =PROPER(C2)

Sounds like the cells in column D are formatted as TEXT.

If D2 is the first formula cell:

Select cell D2 and set the format to GENERAL
With D2 still selected hit function key F2 then hit ENTER.

Now you should be able to drag copy down.

Hi,

Looks like your cells were preformatted for TEXT, format as General or
number and try again.

Another possibility is that you have a space before your
equal sign, which would look like a formula but would be text.

Another possibility is that you are in Formula Display mode
use Ctrl+` (accent grave to left of number row) to
switch in or out (toggle) of formula view.
Can also be changed with Tools, Options, View,
uncheck Formulas

A similar problem if you filled the formulas down
and entered the data later you would show not the
formula but the same value of the cell you first
copied down. Use of F9 would show correct values.
To fix that
Tools, Options, Calculation, [x] Automatic
