Formula displays Zeros

Quite often when importing or cut/paste. When I try to
use formula on the cells it displays that the sum equals
zereo. I have tried formatting cells to number and
general, but still gets zeros

If you entered the "numbers" as Text, changing the format won't change
them into numbers.

One way to coerce the text to numbers:

Copy an empty cell. Select your "numbers". Choose Edit/Paste Special,
selecting the Values and Add radio buttons. Click OK.
