Forms --- Field Validation

I am working on creating a Form (that will be emailed back to the web site
holder) on a Contact Us page that has fields such as:

First Name
Last Name
Email Address
Phone No.

1. I know how to validate the First Name and Last Name fields but how do you
use the validation process to validate the email address format of (e-mail address removed) or
the Phone No. format of (xxx) xxx.xxxx ? --- Can this type of field
validation be done, I thought I have seen it being done on other web sites ?

2. Also how can you set up the form so if there is a field error you have an
immediate validation edit box pop up as you tab from field to field instead
of having to wait for all of them to pop up one at time when you click on the
Submit button ?

Any help will really be appreciated.

Thank you,
Paul
