Formatting SATA HDD

I'm deleted a partition from a 160GB SATA drive using a partition manager
program and ran fdisk to create it again, now when I'm using a win98se
bootdisk to format the partition it's only reading 21,55.31M it's ok because
when I can always use partition magic to allocate the rest of the drive, but
my problem is that it has taken 45 mins to format (FAT32) the 21,55.31M of
it

Why are you using fdisk, if you could use PM?

It's a new drive and I haven't mastered PM in dos yet, I only know the
bootdisk way

Even formatting the whole drive using the Windows XP setup disk takes ages,
I think something is screwed somewhere, I ran diagnostic on the drive and it
came back as ok.

Did you do a low-level format on it in BIOS? SATA user, and I don't
recall formatting taking that long. I did NTFS though.
