formatting legal documents

I have a legal document that has a page break about 25 pages into the
document. A new set of formatting rules start on the new page with line
numbering and a style called "claims" which I am assuming was created by the
attorney. About halfway through the listed "claims" there is a huge space. I
have tried everything to get it out but can't. I have tried to copy
formatting from another document but when I compare, it is the same. I am so
frustrated.

What kind of space are you referring to? Is it horizontal? Or is it a
vertical space? If it's vertical, does the text continue on the same
page or on the next?

Click the ¶ button on the Standard toolbar to display nonprinting
characters. Does that show anything for the space?

I already tried that. I tried comparing formatting, revealing formatting.
there are continuous line breaks that are placed in the same place as the
next line, only between the last line break and the next (in this section of
the document) there is a space of about 1/2 a page.
