formatting hard drive

I have a Dell laptop, 40gig hard drive. It has about 7 partitions and
Windows XP and Ubuntu linux. IT is getting slow so I wan't to
completely format my hard drive and reinstal windows xp. I have XP to
reinstall with. I also want to install windows 98 second edition.

1. Can I create partitions threw the Windows 98 instal?

2. How do I format my hard drive? I can't seem to find out how.
Partition Magic 8? FDISK? please help on that (i could use the windows
xp install to delete all partitions, but is that the same?

3. i am aware that I must install Full edition windows 98 and that it
must be on C: with a partition (i am thinking 10 gigs on FAT32). also
know that XP will go on D: (30gigs NTFS) and that windows 98 cannot
read ntfs partitions (i think).

-If that wasn't clear enough ---- how do i format my hard drive?

you can delete all partitions and start over (you'll lose ubuntu in the
process)
install win98 first, then xp
during win98 install, you could delete the partitions there. if that doesn't
work, run the xp install just long enough to delete the partitions, then
exit and run win98 setup
and yes, win98 can't read ntfs
