Can someone help me?
I upgraded from Windows Me to XP. Now, alot of my
programs don't work but the one I really need was Adaptec
CD (DirectCD). I use is to reformat my CD's each week to
backup my Quickbooks. At this point I have no way of
reformatting a CD to be backed up on and read by my
computer at work. Do I need to buy new software? What do
I do???

Greetings

You need to upgrade to a version of DirectCD that works with Windows XP.
There is no need to format a CD unless you are using packetwriting software
like DirectCD.

The version of Direct CD you have probably came with EasyCD Creator 4.
That DCD will positively *not* work properly with XP (a few claim to
have succeeded but even they find it causes shutdown to hang). You have
to get a later version - for which Roxio (spun off from Adaptec) will
insist on full price.

*If* you have an HP drive, there is a free version for them of DLA at
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/information_storage/software/dla_ver31_enu.exe
which is a good substitute, compatible with DCD and with XP. Otherwise
that is only available as part of the RecordNow Max Platinum (CD
version, not download) from www.stompinc.com

Or there is InCD, with Nero from www.nero.com - but compatibility with
your old disks would probably be a problem
