Formatted Phone numbers in outlook

I have been trying to get rid of the +1 in outlook
properties. When I try to send faxes, it always sends
the information to TAPI as +1 (Local area code) (Phone
number). This makes the phone dial wrong, and I get a
bad phone number...

HELP!
