Formatted Numbers

Hi All
I have number data in two columns as follows
Cell A1 1234
Cell B1 056789
Require 1234056789

I tried using =A1&B1 to join them but the 0 disappeared as custom
formatting had been applied.
Is there a way round this so as to retain the leading zero?
