My windows tasbar does not show each open window. Instead I have an up and
down arrow to scroll through - not very useful. I have unlocked the toolbar
in an attempt to change this but no luck. Can someone help me please?

Put your cursor on the top edge of the Taskbar so it becomes a double
headed up and down arrow. Hold down the left mouse button and drag
the bar up so it will double and if more size is needed you can triple.
You can do the same in reverse. Try it. :~)

Thanks for the idea - unfortunately not a cure. I can unlock the taskbar and
do as you say. The arrows stay in the toolbar and become part of a scrollbar.

When the taskbar is unlocked it is is split up by dotted lines - wish I
could attach a picture to show how it looks!

Right click the Taskbar | Properties | Taskbar tab |
Taskbar appearance | Unselect: Group similar taskbar buttons | OK your way
out

Group similar taskbar buttons
[[Displays taskbar buttons for files opened by the same program in the same
area of the taskbar. In addition, if the taskbar becomes so crowded with
buttons that the width of the buttons shrinks beyond a certain width, then
the buttons for the same program are collapsed into a single button.
Clicking the button lets you access the document you want. Right-clicking
the button lets you close all the documents you want.]]

right click on an empty space of the toolbar and go to TOOLBARS and disable
all but the quicklanch. Then pull it up to make it a double hieght toolbar.
Also do what Wesley Vogel said.

Thanks - this pointed me in the right direction. when I opens up the list of
toolbars I discovered the language bar appeared 12 times! As I deleted these
from the list the taskbar went back to the more familiar appearance. thank you
