Formating my harddisc?

Hi there.
This might be the most ignorant question of them all; but
how on earth do I format my harddisc, so it's completely
empty?
I am using XP and pretty confused here.

If you want to format your C drive and reinstall, just change your bios to
boot from the XP cd and follow the prompts.

Hi!Kruse!
Enter the BIOS change the 1st boot preference from CD-ROM,save it
exit.Now insert the original XP bootable CD and follow on screen
instructions.
If you face any problem then please go through:-

You do it as part of a reinstall of the system after booting the XP CD
direct. Enter Setup, and after the license agreement take New Install.
When it asks you to confirm where, hit ESC; select and delete the
current partition and make a new RAW one to be formatted at the next
stage
