How can I format a Maxtor SATA300 drive?

Richard,

Connect your drive to your computer. Right click on Computer and select
Manage. In the Computer Management window click on Disk Management in the
left pane. Right click on the Maxtor drive and select Format. In the Format
window select the file system you desire. I would suggest you don't choose a
quick format as this method could skip over bad sectors if any are present.

Please clarify your intentions. Are you adding this drive to an
already-exiting Vista system, or is this your only drive that you are
planning to reformat and reinstall Vista on?
