format option - bullets and numbering in word 2000

In my Word 2000 program at work, on the format drop down list, bullets and
numbering no longer appear as an option. I have shortcuts on my formatting
toolbar, but I cannot change the styles because I do not have that option in
the drop down menu. I used to have it but suddenly it is not there anymore
and I don't know why or what happened to it. (Our tech at work says he has
never heard of that happening.) I tried detect and repair but I received
error 1706. It said something about the source not being found. Do I need
to have word uninstalled and then re-installed? I am on a network. Any ideas
on how to correct this would be appreciated. Thanks

Tools | Customize | Toolbars. Select the Formatting toolbar and click Reset.
