Bullets and Numbering Problem

I have a problem with a Word file. I have numbers that go down the left hand
border, numbering each line. I cannot get it to go away. I have spent over
a year on this book. I do not want to have to redo the entire thing by
opening a new file and retyping, formating, etc. Someone please help. I
have tried to undo bullets and numbering to no avail.

File | Page Setup | Layout: Line numbers: Clear the check box for "Line
numbering."

Hi,
A really workable solution given by Suzanne. It also helped me to know such
a feature is existing inside the "Page Setup". Thanks!
