Format & Frames

When I select a section of text and change the format by choosing from the
drop down formats available, I find my selected text is moved to the header
space in a frame.

I am able to select the frame, format it and then remove it and the selected
section returns to its correct place in the correct format.

Any help would be appreciated.
 
The style you selected from the drop down includes frame formatting.
To remove it permanently, do the following: In the Styles and
Formatting pane, click the arrow next to the style name. Choose
Modify. In the Modify Style dialog box, click the Format button, and
then click Frame. Click Remove Frame. Click OK.
