some time back i created a macro/button on my tool bar which toggled case
changes which offered a switch between all case change options automatically.
Over the past couple of weeks i removed that button and installed the
regular icon change case tool on my button bar, but when i clicked on a word
and went to toggle automatically between all options, instead i had opened
the dialogue box for format change case. i have created macro after macro
but i cannot come up with my original toggling case tool. what am i doing
wrong??????? i am a writer and am continually changing text. i do not like
to have to open that darn dialogue box, i want it to toggle case changes
automatically when i click on the icon tool button. help!!!! THANKS -

Shift+F3 only changes to all caps, plus it won't toggle back to lowercase.
but thank you for offering me help. blessings, glorymercy

Press Shift+F3 repeatedly to cycle among upper, title, and lower
cases.

If my shift+F3 would do as you say, i would be in hog heaven. but mine will
not toggle to all cases, it just changes the word from all caps to all
lowercase. i am going to try closing down and restarting word. thanks for
your help!

i don't know why, but my shift+f3 change case will not work. i have been
furiously trying all kinds of tricks, but to no avail. i am going to see if
i can reset my function keys and see if that works. also, i formerly used my
function keys a great deal, but i have become more pleased with buttons which
i personalize. thanks again for your help. i will let you know when/if i get
the silly problem fixed. i have always loved Word since it first came out
on Mac in the late 80's. this is the first time i have ever been unable to
adjust settings to my satisfaction. the help isn't as helpful as it used to
be either, i don't think. blessings!

What version of Word do you have? Shift+F3 works here in Word
2002 and 2003, but I don't have previous versions to test on. In
Word, click on Tools | Customize | Keyboard | Categories: All
Commands | Commands: Change Case. "Current keys" should be
Shift+F3. If it isn't, then click in the "Press new shortcut
key" box, press Shift+F3, and click on Assign.

nope. it still doesn't work. i think i have entered some formatting command
(auto) that is overriding the change case command. I tried setting up the
change case keyboard command, following the instructions you gave me. i have
used that option before and am familiar with setting up commands. the only
thing i know to do is to get my disk and try reinstalling my program, which i
hate because i have numerous macros and buttons i have personalized. if you
think of anything else, let me know. thanks again for your generous help.

Try another approach. In the Keyboard dialog, select any command at random
and enter Shift+F3. What is shown for "Currently assigned to"? If it's
something other than Change Case, then that is the command that has hijacked
the shortcut.

Nope--sorry! i think i am going to have to reinstall the application.
thanks for your help, i'm really grateful. blessings -

Reinstallation is very unlikely to help since it does not overwrite
Normal.dot or the Registry or remove add-ins from Word's Startup folder, and
these are the three most common causes of problems.

I just got a new computer and keyboard with 2003 word and am missing my
shift+F3 function too. I went to the keystoke dialogue box by going into
the record macro mode and the shift+F3 keystroke would not even show up in
the box, so I experimented and found that if you press the F Lock botton so
that the F light comes on (new in my new keyboard) then try the shift+F3. It
works!!

Good luck!
